3.2 Applying finite automata to RGB values and grayscale values After the finite automaton is determined, the finite automaton can be applied to the RGB val- ues or grayscale values. In this study, the RGB values and grayscale values were used to calcu- late the porosities of the carbonate rocks from their polarized light microscope images. That is, the RGB value or gray value was processed according to the threshold value to obtain a black and white binary image, which was used to calculate the porosity of the carbonate rock.
